Aviya Aerospace Systems Announces Back-to-Back Major Program Wins

Aviya Aerospace Systems today announced that the company was awarded a major program that will be utilizing its Closed Loop Bench (CLB) technology in a new aircraft sytems integration lab and for customer development and validation of engine controls.

In the aircraft systems integration lab Aviya will develop and install a customized real time simulation bench designed to model both the engine and the engine controller. The bench integrates powerful capabilities for modelling of different aircraft scenarios to determine behaviours and performance of the engine in the overall aircraft environment.

This program win comes on the heels of a recent awarding to Aviya of a similar project that will also utilize the company’s CLB technology.

Both programs will require installation and commissioning of Aviya’s CLB systems in Europe and Asia at aircraft manufacturer’s facilities.

Aviya hosts the Honourable Marc Garneau and MP Gagan Sikand in its Mississauga offices

Recently, Aviya employees had the opportunity to host The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport and Mr. Gagan Sikand, our Member of Parliament for Mississauga-Streetsville. As a member of The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Mr. Sikand spoke about the long-standing relationship that Aviya has as a proud member of the Mississauga business community and the satisfaction he has knowing that an aerospace technology organization makes its home in Mississauga-Streetsville.

John Koumoundouros, CEO of Aviya Aerospace Systems, spoke about the benefit the federal government’s immigration and business policies play as a conduit for driving Aviya’s growth and allowing us to recruit the best and brightest from around the world.

Minister Garneau chatted with the large team of Aviya engineers who were excited to meet our two distinguished guests. The Minister conveyed to our team the role organizations such as Aviya play in continuing to maintain Canada’s competitiveness in the global aerospace environment. As the Minister of Transport, responsible for the safety and security of air travel, The Honourable Marc Garneau toured our facility to see the advanced engineering and certification capabilities that Aviya has developed to ensure aerospace systems meet the stringent safety and reliability requirements for the global aerospace market.

Aviya Aerospace Systems Completes AS9100D Certification

Mississauga, ON, 24 January 2018 – Aviya Aerospace Systems announced today that the organization has achieved AS9100D certification for our Mississauga Headquarters following an extensive independent audit by CMA Quality International that concluded with no findings. With Revision D only recently released, Aviya joins a small select group to have achieved compliance to the more rigorous Revision D standard.

AS9100D certification is specific to the aerospace industry and is available to companies that design, develop, and/or produce aerospace or related products. Any company that is compliant with AS9100D has proven to its testing body that it operates under a very stringent quality management system and can readily meet the demands of international aerospace customers and regulatory bodies.

Aviya Aerospace Systems Announces Organizational Changes

Aviya Aerospace Systems today announced organizational changes, effective April 5^th, 2016, to more closely align and strengthen its continued growth in aerospace systems capabilities.

The company continues to execute on a strategic roadmap to enhance its capabilities in the area of aerospace system development and certification. Today’s announcement further reinforces and accelerates this strategy.

John Koumoundouros will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Basile Papaevangelou will assume the role of business advisor to the organization.

Billings Chan will continue in his role as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Louis Brown will assume an expanded leadership role with the appointment as President & Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Joseph Sum will assume the role of a newly created position, Vice President, NexGen Systems. Joseph’s role will be to spearhead Aviya’s extensive R&D program with an emphasis on driving commercialization of technologies in the Closed Loop Bench and avionics controller area.

Baktash Hamzehloo will assume the role of Vice President, Engineering.

Paul Kuwik will assume the role of Director, Business Development.

The organization’s Process and Quality function has expanded with increased responsibility and visibility with additional internal appointments and a wider mandate.

To drive higher levels of customer satisfaction, the Chief Engineer Office has been created with the internal appointment of Chief Engineer, Certification and Chief Engineer, Electronic Hardware. The Chief Engineer Office will work closely with our customers and Business Development organization as the interface to the engineering group to ensure realization of technical and certification requirements.

AS9100C is a rigid and comprehensive standard for a quality management system within the aerospace industry published by SAE International.

Aviya Aerospace Systems achieves Level 4 Software Capability Rating

Aviya Aerospace Systems is pleased to announce that a major aerospace customer completed its audit of Aviya’s software development and V&V capabilities and the organization once again achieved a Level 4 rating with zero findings.

This audit is conducted every three years and is the second successive audit where a Level 4 rating has been achieved.

The audit was based on the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) from Carnegie Mellon University, which was used to determine the maturity of the organization’s software and certification capabilities.

“Having achieved back-to-back Level 4 ratings is a testament to not only Aviya’s process focus, but also our consistency in delivering a high-level of quality in our engineering capabilities and products.”, stated Billings Chan, Chief Technology Officer at Aviya Aerospace Systems. “The auditor’s overall comments included how comprehensive and well organized Aviya’s QMS system is and, more importantly, how knowledgeable employees are with using the QMS in their day-to-day activities.”

Aviya Sponsors Unmanned Systems Canada Student Competition

Aviya Aerospace Systems is sponsoring the 7^th Unmanned Systems Canada Student competition, which will be held on May 1-3^rd 2015 in Alma, Quebec.

Over the years, the competition has promoted the expertise of many Canadian universities in the field of unmanned vehicle systems.

During the weekend, teams consisting of students from multiple engineering disciplines will face complex missions simulating real-life applications of UAV technology, which relate to challenges faced in the Oil and Gas, Mining and Agriculture industries.

Aviya representatives, some of which are alumni of past competitions, will be on site for the duration of the event, giving students the opportunity to share experiences, learn about our company, as well as to discuss future opportunities.
