Aviya Aerospace Systems is a leader in engineering services and solutions for mission critical Aerospace and Defense applications.  Aviya provides expertise in program management, systems, software, mechanical, and hardware engineering to many of the top-tier Aerospace and Defense Contractors.  We have an immediate opening for an Electro-Mechanical Technologist to join our engineering group in Mississauga. This is a short-term contract role with the possibility of an extension. Working the night shift may be required.

Specific Position Duties

  • Perform repairs and troubleshoot production equipment, tools & production support equipment.
  • Install new equipment, perform equipment testing and preliminary set-up. Coordinate ESA & Health and Safety commissioning. 
  • Perform equipment set-up for the next production lot.
  • Design tools, jigs and fixtures for production tooling.
  • Perform regular maintenance of equipment to prolong its use, life, and increase availability for production use.
  • Perform calibration or coordinate with external supplier on the timely calibration of equipment & tools.
  • Update and maintain records of maintenance and calibration for equipment and tools.
  • Perform non-routine technical assignments in order to support manufacturing.
  • Maintain adequate spare parts inventory. 
  • Work with Production Team Leaders to support the Total Productive Maintenance by training the equipment operator.
  • Perform equipment conversion, set-up and minor maintenance.
  • Liaise with equipment manufacturer on any equipment issues and troubleshooting concerns.
  • Develop relationship with external maintenance company for quick help & support, especially during unexpected downtime.
  • Participate in quality and productivity improvement activities including reduction of set-up, repair, and conversion time of equipment.
  • Complete required maintenance & calibration documentation. Prepare tooling and/or Engineering Change Order documentation.

Qualifications for Position

  • Minimum 2-year diploma in Electro-Mechanical or relevant field plus 2 years experience in Manufacturing line support.
  • Demonstrated competence as an Electro-Mechanical Technician or equivalent.
  • Millwright/electrician/Instrumentation licence is an asset.
  • Experience in equipment troubleshooting, calibration and maintenance.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must work well in team setting.
  • Good analytical and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Demonstrated organization and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software and electrical schematics.
  • ​Proficient in MS Office
